Box - Miniature wooden box chair.

Miniature Chair-Casket in Breton-French style, often also used as a small jewelry box. This is a piece of traditional French craftsmanship (from the Brittany region), dating from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. It is made of wood, hand-carved. It features characteristic geometric and floral decorations, with the typical circular pierced openings shaped like wheels on the backrest and also at the bottom front. The seat is hinged (with a drop-front opening) and hides a small interior compartment, originally conceived as a secret drawer or jewelry box. Although sometimes, for its beauty, they were used as doll chairs or as small decorative collectible items, the meticulous craftsmanship made it primarily a showpiece.
