Napoléon III era work box, made of wood and brass, France, circa 1850–1900, rectangular with chamfered edges, 20.5 × 13.5 × 5 cm, in good used condition with minor wear.

Napoleon III Era Working Box
Elegant rectangular box with cut corners in precious wood veneer (probably rosewood and rosewood burl). The lid features a rich marquetry design of butterfly wings in framing stripes, centered by a Rocaille brass cartouche (monogram-free).
The opening is operated by a push-button mechanism on the front. The interior, finished in mahogany, is divided into three compartments. The edges are highlighted by metal protective brass mouldings.
Era: Second half of the 19th century (circa 1870).
Condition:
• Good overall condition of the marquetry and varnish.
• Push-button mechanism.
• Very small veneer lifts and signs of wear consistent with age.
• Overall in good used condition.
