Originally intended to embellish tea or gaming tables of the period, it stands out for its strict geometric symmetry and workmanship of another era.
Precious and substantial antique white linen. decorative design perfectly symmetrical. It presents a refined central frame that encloses an inner panel, entirely embellished with minute floral details and small diamond-shaped geometric inserts.
Techniques of Embroidery:
- Satin Stitch: Executed masterfully on 4 large decorative roses. The dense, thick workmanship gives the flowers an elegant relief and a three-dimensional effect.
- Cutwork and Smerlo: A dense cutwork stitch surrounds the roses and defines the entire floral apparatus. The fabric is lightened by elegant cutwork inserts.
- Day Stitch (Punto Giorno): A delicate openwork border frames and geometrically finishes the body of the tablecloth.
Edge Finishing: Outer edges fully finished with a shaped and embroidered hem.
