Antique hanging wooden salt cabinet, estimated 1800–1850, made in Germany, front engraved with a name and the date 16 June 1821; dimensions 47 × 31 × 25 cm, weight 7.5 kg, in good condition with minor signs of age.

Rare hand-made hanging salt cabinet from 1821.
On the front a name is carved with the date 16 June 1821 underneath.
In the past, gold was very valuable and people were very frugal with it.
To keep it dry, the salt cabinet was often hung next to the fireplace so the salt wouldn’t become damp.
It is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, wooden pegs and special wooden joints.
At the bottom there is a small beam that was later screwed underneath, presumably to keep it firmly against the wall under full weight. You can of course remove it if you wish.
