Description from the seller
Welcome to Passion d'Orient:
The term Kazak is used generically to classify a heterogeneous group of carpets from various areas of the Caucasus. The Kazaks of the 19th century were woven entirely in wool; they were carpets with a long, bright pile and large colorful geometric designs that varied according to the production area. In the 20th century, their beauty—both colors and original, fanciful designs—was rediscovered, always created from memory by the women who passed them from mother to daughter, transmitting this great tradition through the centuries. Thus, Caucasian carpets began to be appreciated and increasingly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors, reaching remarkable valuations and earning a premier position in the panorama of Oriental carpets.
