A magnificent and authentic pair of early 18th-century yellow-copper (brass) candlesticks, dating from circa 1850-1900
These heavy, high-quality candlesticks are executed in the classical Louis XIV/George I style and built on an octagonal profiled foot with an elegant baluster-shaped stem.
The authenticity and great age of this pair are beautifully confirmed by the underside of the feet. Here the artisanal construction is clearly visible: the stem and foot were cast separately using old sand casting (characteristic by the rough texture and the casting blemishes) and then manually crimped/turned over onto the underside.
The pair is in a fair, unspoiled condition and has developed a splendid, deep patina over the centuries. A valuable addition for the collector of early copper and bronze objects.
