Pair of Italian 800 silver wax seal stamps (Timrbi per ceralacca) in good used condition with natural patina, two pieces dating to 1850–1900, with Baroque floral and vegetal motifs; the larger stamp features an elaborately decorated handle with volutes, foliage and a mascarone and an oval cartouche, while the smaller, elongated stamp bears the initials “R.S.” on the matrix, and the dimensions given refer to the taller stamp (10.5 cm high, 2.4 cm wide, 2.4 cm deep).
Description from the seller
Pair of Italian seals for sealing wax in 800 silver, of refined craftsmanship and characterized by a rich baroque-style decoration.
The larger stamp features an elaborately decorated handle with scrolls, vegetal and floral motifs, as well as a distinctive grotesque mask at the lower part. In the center there is an elegant oval cartouche, lacking any visible inscription, framed by a rich ornamentation.
The smaller stamp, elongated and tapered, is adorned with refined foliate motifs and scrolls along the entire handle. The oval matrix bears the initials “R.S.”, incised in an elegant cursive font, with a dot separating the two letters. The engraving, made on the matrix, was intended for producing the corresponding wax seal.
Both pieces preserve a natural silver patina, with slight signs of use and aging consistent with their nature and antiquity.
