The Vatican 2026 Year Set (BU) in UNC, certificate 05486, contains one coin set with an innovative layout that alternates the Pope's portrait and the papal shield, including a €2 coin featuring the lily and the burning heart pierced by an arrow over an open book.
Description from the seller
The Vatican’s new euro coin set — the first to appear during the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV — is directly inspired by the Pope’s coat of arms. This shield is depicted on the cover with a finish reminiscent of chalk drawings and is embossed on an ivory-colored background. A deep blue color accentuates the inscriptions and important graphic elements, referring to the colors of the two heraldic fields of the papal coat of arms. The coins in the set show a unique alternation between the portrait of the pope and the papal coat of arms: the portrait adorns the coins with the higher denomination, while the coat of arms is depicted on coins with the lower denomination. This graphic concept is unprecedented in the history of Vatican coin sets. Also the 2-euro coin contains the characteristic elements of the coat of arms of Pope Leo XIV: the lily, symbol of purity and veneration of Mary, and the burning heart pierced by an arrow above an open book; the latter stands for Augustinian spirituality and the power of God’s Word to transform the human heart.
