Description from the seller
"Gold Thrower" — J.Cami, limited edition of 20 copies
There is a moment, just before the gesture, when everything is still possible. The body is tensed backward, the arm charged, the face hidden — it is the instant that precedes the revolt. Banksy had fixed it forever with a bouquet of flowers instead of a stone: violence defused by beauty. J.Cami re-approaches that same suspended instant and traverses it with a different question — what do we throw, today, when we really want to change something?
The answer, here, is a key. Not just any key: an original Porsche key, authentic, stolen from its mechanical fate and raised as a symbol. The desire for speed, the weight of possession, the obsession with status — all of which that key normally awakens — is instead hurled, offered, almost returned. It is no longer a gesture of conquest, but of liberation: as if the only way to truly possess something was to be willing to let it go.
And it is gold, not by chance. Gold is the substance of myths and idols, the color that humans have always chosen to consecrate what they deem eternal. Dressing the act of revolt in gold, J.Cami turns a moment of anger into a monument — freezing forever the ambivalence we inhabit every day: the attraction to luxury and, just as strong, the urge to rebel against it.
The sculpture is crafted in high-quality resin with a bronze/golden finish that recalls the noble patina of classical statues, while the original key — raw, modern, recognizable — remains the sole fragment of reality grafted into the myth. Each copy is completely hand-assembled in Italy, personally signed and numbered by J.Cami: part of a series strictly limited to only 20 pieces.
Dimensions: 18 x 21.5 cm.
An artwork for those who don’t collect merely objects, but fragments of meaning — for those who recognize, in a gesture suspended in gold, their own unresolved conflict between what they desire and what they would like to be free from. Shipping is handled with utmost meticulous care, dedicated packaging, and maximum attention at every stage, so that the work arrives to the collector exactly as it was conceived in the artist’s studio.
