Victorian era Art Nouveau chatelaine belt in alpaca, model Chatelaines, from the United Kingdom, dating circa 1900–1910, with oval lobed plates in a Jugendstil design, silvered appearance, length about 110 cm, width 4.5 cm, weight 277 g, in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear, original and official.

This is a belt from the Victorian era or the Art Nouveau period, approximately between 1880 and 1910. The lobed oval shape of the plates and the ornamental engraving of volutes (scrolls) and flowers were extremely popular at the turn of the century. This type of antique waist hooks (chatelaines) or articulated belts has the following approximate measurements: about 1 meter 10 centimeters long and about 4.5 cm wide, and weighs 277 grams. They were used as a working instrument and something practical, and things hung from them; maids and nurses used them. The metal it is made from may be an alloy of metals with low silver content. Shipped only within the European Union by DHL Deutsche Post.
