A particularly refined and richly decorated reliquary (ostensorium) is offered, featuring a image (replica) of Saint Augustine (St. Augustine of Hippo), one of the most important Church Fathers within Christianity. The object is executed in a pronounced neo-Baroque style of polished brass (or gilded metal) with graceful scroll motifs, acanthus leaves, and an impressive crown with radiant decoration. The intermediary piece is presumably replaced. This Catholic devotional item likely dates from the period from the late 19th century to the first half of the 20th century and is in very beautiful condition with a wonderful patina and only minimal signs of age.
