Description from the seller
Antique Neo-Renaissance side/console table with rich woodcarving and caryatids – ca. 1880–1900
Very decorative antique table in Neo-Renaissance / historicizing style, probably dating from the late 19th – early 20th century.
The table is made of warm-colored wood, presumably walnut or similar hardwood, and stands out especially for its very rich hand-carved decoration. Both legs feature striking figurative caryatids, combined with floral tendrils, acanthus leaves, volutes and architectural ornaments.
The large bevelled tabletop has around its edge a beautifully continuous carved flower and leaf motif. The heavy double foot construction is connected by a central crosspiece and gives the piece a monumental appearance.
A characterful piece of furniture that fits excellently in a classical, eclectic or maximalist interior and can also be used as a sidetable, console table or presentation/display table.
Dimensions approx.:
* Height: 71 cm
* Length: 98 cm
* Width: 56 cm
Condition: good antique condition with normal signs of use and aging. The top shows scratches and signs of wear. There are visible drying/aging cracks, among others in the tabletop and in one of the carved foot/leg parts. These are clearly shown in the photos. The rich woodcarving is generally beautifully preserved.
A striking and highly decorative piece with a lot of artisanal character.
Preferably for pickup, as the table is very heavy. For shipping you can contact me to explore solutions.
