Description from the seller

Rare and Elegant Marble Column from Carrara, dating from the late 9th century to the early 20th century

This is a column in white Carrara veined marble (often commercially described as Arabesque or Calacatta veined marble).

Valued Solid Marble column with original brass pin and removable upper slab.
The beautiful shades rich in various natural tones give it a strong impact both in natural light and artificial light and embellish any space.
A truly refined object with fascinating elegance.

Scroll, vase holder, clock, statuette, flower planters, turreted tabernacle or statue, antique pedestal, and richly carved. Fully handmade.

The central body and base show a background ranging from milky white to ivory-cream, enriched by evident dark gray veining that creates the characteristic network motifs typical of the Tuscan extraction basins. The upper shelf, in a slightly lighter and crisper tone, could be a white crystalline marble element replaced or integrated over time, a very common detail in these modular furniture pieces from the late 19th or early 20th century.

The piece features a classic and slender line, typical of Italian artisanal manufacture of the Umbertine/Liberty period (late 19th – early 20th century).

As can be seen from the photos, the work is very detailed and in good condition. (small chips, but they do not diminish the beauty of the artifact as seen in the photos)
