This Lori, handwoven in India, represents a finer variant of Gabbeh carpets. They are usually characterized by color-rich, geometric patterns as well as monochrome designs. Lori carpets are mainly found in a color spectrum that includes cream, brown, yellow, and gray tones. Red or blue are less common.
From certain viewing angles, noticeable light and dark shading of the pile yarn can be observed. The reason is that the pile yarn runs crosswise to the longitudinal direction, which makes the colors shimmer lighter and the rug less susceptible to soiling.
