This Lori rug, hand-knotted in India, denotes a finer variant of the Gabbeh carpet. They are usually characterized by color-rich, geometric patterns as well as monochrome designs. Lori rugs are mainly found in a color spectrum that includes cream, brown, yellow, and gray tones. Red or blue are less commonly found.
Depending on the viewing angle, pronounced light and dark shading of the pile yarn can be seen. The reason is that the pile yarn runs perpendicular to the length direction, which makes the colors shimmer brightly and the rug less prone to dirt.
