These remarkable teeth originate from a Mosasaurus, a dinosaur that lived 72 to 75 million years ago.

The Mosasaurus was a sea lizard that inhabited and ruled the seas; the species occurred worldwide and could reach up to 20 meters in length. Mosasaurs went extinct when a giant meteorite struck the Earth around 66 million years ago.

It was a very active predator with good vision. The skull and jaws were robustly built, capable of swallowing virtually any other animal or reptile.

Deze bijzondere tanden zijn afkomstig van een Mosasaurus, een dinosaurus die 72 tot 75 miljoen jaar geleden.

De Mosasarus is een zee hagedis die in de zeeën leefden en heersten, het soort kwam wereldwijd voor en kon tot wel 20 meter lang worden. Mosasaurussen stierven uit toen 66 miljoen jaar geleden een reusachtige meteoriet de aarde ramde.

Het was een zeer een actief roofdier met een goed gezichtsvermogen. De schedel en de kaken waren stevig van bouw, en geschikt om vrijwel elk ander dieren of reptiel te verslinden.
