This antique Carl Zeiss microscope from Jena is about 130 years old. Made in Germany (late 19th century) in the World Capital of the optical industry, Jena. Then, and in the decades that followed, it was the center of the lens industry. Partly or especially because of that, Jena also had a university with a high scientific standing in physics. The optical industry produced lenses for the film, photography, and medical worlds. The wooden case cradle is made of solid lacquered teak. And it contains a variety of parts, including several eyepieces of varying powers.
