Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
A pair of French Napoleon III era candelabra in gilt bronze and marble, dating to 1850–1900, each about 35 cm high, 25 cm wide and 25 cm deep, with eight sockets (three sidelights and one central) and in good used condition.
Description from the seller
In this auction we offer an important pair of candelabras in gilded bronze and marble of French manufacture from the Napoleon III era.
The candelabras are 8-flame, 3 at the sides and one central.
They are complete with every single part and in good condition.
The gilded bronze is in exceptional condition.
The patinated bronze of the arms that support the candles is also in excellent condition.
The sculptural work of the bronzes is, to say the least, richly detailed.
You can observe flowers, ears of grain, fruit, vegetal leaves, endless decorations.
The arms are attached to the central body through little flowers that screw on as in the photo.
The marble columns are made with 2 single blocks and a wonderful sculptural work incaving grooves vertical along the full height of the body.
There are very slight signs of time on the marble part, an ancient restoration on the base, and a very small chip.
And one bronze flower is missing (screw-in).
The wooden lower part is in excellent condition.
All the bronze recesses to support the candles are present except for the two central ones, which did not exist originally.
The candelabras are in their found state and would need professional cleaning to increase their brilliance, already very bright.
A marble cleaning could be planned but we discourage it to maintain their originality and antiquity.
The central pin runs the full height of the candelabras.
Present are the original forged-iron stopper clamps.
Measurements: 35 cm height
Measurements: 25 cm width.
Observe the multiple photographs, an integral part of this description, where the individual details can be seen well..
Congratulations to the winner of this auction.
