My works are conceived to be companions rather than possessions. I give my objects organic, animated characteristics, hoping people become attached to them like pets.
Vincent Decat is a Paris-based artist-designer, a graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, who explores the boundaries between design and sculpture. He considers the durability of an object not only through its materials but above all through the emotional connection it evokes. By rendering his objects almost alive, they become companions that must be cared for, kept, and cherished.
Aorta is a chair that awakens the senses. The veins that run through it and wrap around it invite touch and interaction. This network of vessels, which traverses the entire structure and emerges from it, makes the piece come alive and brings contact with the object. It is made of a metal frame covered with clay and plaster.
The piece is functional and features a high seating. It intentionally shows cracks, bearing witness to its artisanal craftsmanship.
