Pair of geometric marble bookends in marmo, Art Déco, dating from 1930–1940, produced in France, each weighing about 1.7 kg and featuring a red veined circular disc, a light base, and a black front element.
Description from the seller
Elegant pair of geometric marble bookends, featuring polychrome marble and a sculptural composition of strong visual impact, attributable to the Art Deco geometric language.
Each element presents an architectural construction composed of essential shapes superimposed: a large circular disk in intensely veined red marble, a rectangular base in light marble, a frontal element in black marble, and a small light circular insert.
The contrast between the different tones and the natural veining of the marble creates a particularly graphic composition, in which circle, rectangle and vertical lines balance, giving the whole an almost sculptural appearance.
Thanks to a weight of about 1.7 kg per element, the two pieces are solid and stable and can be used both as functional bookends and as decorative/sculptural objects for bookcases, desks, consoles or interiors with Art Deco and eclectic styles.
Conditions
In good vintage condition, with normal signs compatible with age and use. There are light traces, small imperfections and superficial marks, visible in the photographs. Color variations, veining and stone irregularities are natural characteristics of marble and make each element unique.
The photographs are an integral part of the description and show details, materials and state of conservation.
The pair will be packed with particular care, considering the weight and nature of the marble.
