Playing Card Press, Metal Cast around 1870
A fine, very heavy playing card press designed to imitate a traditional book press.
An amusing curiosity that you don't often see. The playing card press with spindle and toggle consists of cast iron in the Neo-Classical style. The parts are bronzed on the surface, partly heavily worn. At the top of the spindle sits an eagle with outstretched wings (Reichsadler).
In the press are poker playing cards by B. Dondorf from Frankfurt a.M. with a back for the “Hamburg-Südamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft”.
Condition - Good with a strong patina.

Spielkartenpresse, Metallguss um 1870
Eine feine, sehr schwere Spielkartenpresse, die dafür gemacht ist, eine traditionelle Buchpresse zu imitieren.
Eine amüsante Kuriosität, die man nicht oft zu sehen bekommt. Die Spielkartenpresse mit Spindel und Knebel besteht aus Gusseisen im Stil des Neo-Klassizismus. Die Teile sind auf der Oberfläche bronziert, teilweise stark abgerieben. Oben auf der Spindel sitzt ein Adler mit ausgebreiteten Schwingen (Reichsadler).
In der Presse sind Poker Spielkarten von B. Dondorf aus Frankfurt a.M. mit einer Rückseite für die “Hamburg-Südamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft“.
Zustand - Gut mit einer starken Patina.
