Impressive old Chinese wooden chest, executed in red-brown lacquer and richly decorated with traditional Chinese floral motifs and depictions of precious objects. Equipped with beautifully and heavily crafted dark metal fittings, a distinctive round lock, and two metal carrying handles. The chest is in a wonderfully well-worn condition, with extensive craquelure, wear, and local loss of the original paintwork. It is precisely these traces that give the object its authentic appearance and rich patina. A decorative and characterful Chinese antique object with a handsome sense of age.
