Description from the seller

Beautiful antique cabinet from 1784, a unique piece with a rich history. The cabinet is 1.79 metres wide, 66 cm deep and 2.01 metres high, including the crown. It can be dismantled, making transport and installation easier. Ideal for lovers of antiques and historic furniture looking for a remarkable showpiece.
This is an antique, solid-oak cushion-front cabinet (or wardrobe/linen cupboard) in the Louis Seize (Louis XVI) or early Biedermeier style.
This particular example is unique because it is precisely dated. The inscription “ANNO 1784” is carved between the two doors, indicating that the cabinet dates from the late 18th century.
The cabinet has several distinctive features:
• Style: Its clean, symmetrical design, fluted central stile and characteristic stepped, raised crest (the upper edge) are typical of the transition from the Baroque to Classicism / Louis Seize in Northern Europe (often German or Dutch/Flemish craftsmanship).
• Construction: Cabinets of this kind were made by hand and traditionally could be completely dismantled. They were often assembled using wooden pegs, making the heavy oak components easier to transport.
• Function: Originally, this type of furniture was used as a linen cupboard or wardrobe. Today, it is also often used in modern interiors as a display cabinet or an atmospheric storage cabinet in the living room.
