Fine handmade cameo carved in Torre del Greco, historic Italian center of artistic coral and shell work, made by a master engraver on Cassis Madagascariensis.

The composition depicts a refined musical scene: a male figure in the center, engaged in playing a string instrument, accompanied by two female figures in an atmosphere of serene conviviality. In the background, the architecture helps create a setting with a classical Mediterranean taste.

Music becomes here a symbol of harmony, sharing and concord, while the delicacy of the reliefs and the contrast between the white of the figures and the warm background of the shell highlight the mastery of the Torrese engraving.
