Exceptionally rare and complete antique mechanical butter churn (karnton / butter churner) from the early 20th century (ca. 1900-1920), marked "Holland" in an elegant calligraphic font.

This lot is a true collector's piece. Whereas most historical churns with a cast-iron gear mechanism are equipped with a wooden tub or glass jar, this premium specimen features a heavy, white-glazed porcelain/ceramic pot.

The most unique and rare detail is the internal mechanism: the lower churn paddle/wheel is also entirely crafted from heavily glazed porcelain with a fine ribbed texture, designed to efficiently churn the cream into butter. Surrounding the interior of the pot are diagonally cut grooves to optimize friction during turning.

The whole unit is powered by a robust cast-iron gear system with a wooden handle. The two-piece wooden lid closes the pot perfectly.

Rarity & Condition:
Churns with a porcelain interior and tub are exceedingly scarce, as this type of fragile kitchen ware has seldom survived unscathed over the past century. This piece is in remarkably pristine, original condition with only very light, authentic age and use scratches on the wood and iron that add character. Mechanically, the wheel operates excellently.
