Antique brass drums microscope in original wooden case – 19th century

Beautiful antique drum microscope, made of polished brass and presumably dating from the second half of the 19th century. A special and decorative scientific instrument with an authentic appearance.

This compact model was probably used as a field, travel, or student microscope. Thanks to the telescopic tube, the instrument can be slid in and stored in the original wooden case.

The microscope is supplied with various loose accessories, including glass preparator plates and some lens or preparate components, as clearly visible in the photos.

The brass housing is in a beautiful, authentic condition and shows normal signs of use and aging. On the black portion of the mechanism there is local paint loss. The wooden storage case also shows light signs of aging. No brand name or signature has been found.

Operation and optical quality have not been tested in depth. The instrument is therefore offered as an antique scientific instrument and collectible.

A characterful piece that would fit well in a collection of antique microscopes, optical instruments, scientific equipment, or curiosities cabinets.
