Book that collects the works of Olaf Martens, photographer originally from the former East Germany. Born in 1963, Martens studied photography at the University of Graphics Arts and the Book of Leipzig and is known for his dramatic and ironic style. He develops a singular aesthetic through spaces built as a stage and the contrast between the everyday and the extraordinary. This book gathers Martens' early representative works, including photographs taken in ruins, ballet schools, and military installations of the former East Germany and Russia. The arrangement of the models, their costumes and the situations are theatrical, and through photography, it raises questions about social structures, gender, and aesthetic consciousness.

Generally the book is in good condition, but the binding is somewhat torn at the back, as can be seen in the last photograph. The book has a plastic sleeve that protects the cover.
