Origin Türkiye, model Usak, mid‑20th century handwoven wool kilim, 255 × 194 cm, approx. 4.95 m², 12 kg, beige and brown palette, in good restored condition and professionally cleaned.
Description from the seller
A distinctive vintage Anatolian Yörük kilim from Turkey, dating approximately to the mid-20th century and estimated to be around 70 years old.
Measuring 255 × 194 cm (approximately 8.4 × 6.4 ft), this substantial traditional kilim covers approximately 4.95 m².
The kilim is entirely handwoven from 100% wool, following traditional Anatolian flatweaving techniques associated with Yörük weaving culture.
The most striking characteristic of this piece is its bold large-scale geometric composition. The field is organised around a series of interconnected diamond and lozenge-shaped compartments, each containing stylised geometric motifs and surrounded by strongly defined angular borders.
Rather than relying on a conventional central medallion, the design creates a continuous architectural rhythm across the entire textile. The individual motifs show subtle variations typical of genuine hand weaving, giving the kilim a unique and highly expressive character.
Its beautifully aged palette combines soft blue-grey, muted yellow, terracotta, rust, brown, beige, ivory and subtle pink accents. The softened colours give the textile an attractive vintage appearance particularly well suited to both collectible and decorative use.
