Viking Era silver Axe Pendant, 5.9 cm long and 4.7 cm wide, in excellent condition and intact, dating to the 9th–10th century AD, decorated with two bird heads and wolf’s tooth motifs, provenance from a private East European collection and acquired in 2020 from the United Kingdom, authentic original piece.
Description from the seller
Typical shape of the classical Viking axe heads with two birds heads, the shaft hole to be used as a loop hole for the necklace or chain, decorated on one side with punched circlets and triangular marks each with three raised dots, commonly known as wolf’s tooth decoration. Exquisite.
Size: 5.9 cm L - 2 5/16 inches x 4.7 cm - 1 13/16 inches
Material: Silver, 22.8 grm
Culture: Viking c. 9-10th Century A.D.
Condition: Intact
Provenance: ex. private East European collection, acquired prior to 2000.
