Brigg London - c.1900 Cane - Walking stick - .925 silver

A fine English gentleman’s dress cane by Brigg of London, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. The substantial sterling silver pommel bears a full set of British silver hallmarks, confirming its authenticity and period manufacture.

The cane is surmounted by a substantial sterling silver mushroom-form pommel, decorated throughout with an unusual graduated bubble pattern composed of irregular circular motifs. The polished raised surfaces contrast attractively with the recessed outlines, creating a distinctive and highly tactile design.

The silver pommel is mounted on a finely polished dark-stained bamboo shaft, retaining its natural nodes and a particularly attractive warm mottled brown patina. The cane terminates in its original metal ferrule.

Brigg of London was one of the foremost British makers and retailers of luxury walking sticks and umbrellas, renowned for the quality and elegance of its pieces. Brigg canes remain particularly sought after by collectors of fine walking sticks.
