Description from the seller
English legal document from the 19th century, written on parchment and headed with the traditional formula “This Indenture.” The manuscript is entirely handwritten in cursive, spread across a wide fold-out sheet.
The deed features various elements typical of British legal documentation of the era:
Original fiscal marks, including a large blue stamp printed at the top and a dry embossing with the royal monogram “G R” beneath a crown, indicative of the taxation applied to notarial deeds in the Georgian period.
An additional octagonal fiscal mark bearing the inscription “W:20,” hand-drawn in accordance with the regulations of the time.
Continuous text describing a property transaction or a formal agreement between parties, structured in the paragraphs typical of Indentures: preamble, names of the contracting parties, description of the assets, terms and conditions.
