Bookends (2) - Wood - Pair of bookends

Pair of carved and gilded wooden bookends. Rocaille / Louis XV style, probably France or Italy, 19th century (or late 18th).
Elegant pair of carved and gold-leaf gilded wooden bookends, with a strongly rococo taste.
Each element features a sinuous S-shaped vertical structure, enriched with volutes, curls and finely carved acanthus leaves that emanate from a spiral Rocaille base.
At the top, stylized leaf motifs and open floral elements develop, imparting a light and dynamic upward movement.
The surfaces are covered in gold leaf, partly worn and with small abrasions and losses that reveal the stamp and the wood underneath, typical characteristics of an old gilding not recently restored.
The pair is mirror-imaged and retains an excellent decorative presence, ideal both as a furnishing element and as an antique-style collectible piece.
Good overall condition. Gilding shows wear, small losses and signs of aging consistent with its age. Wood structurally solid, with light signs of wear on the bases.
