Porsche - 996 Coupe Millennium Edition - 2000

GENERAL INFORMATION:

To celebrate the arrival of the new millennium, Porsche created a special version of the 996 Carrera 4 Coupé for model year 2000. Production was deliberately limited to just 911 cars worldwide – an obvious reference to the model that had defined Porsche for decades.

The Millennium Edition was considerably more than simply a regular Carrera 4 with a badge. All cars were finished in the special Violet Chromaflair paint and received a carefully selected specification that included the lowered sports chassis, 18-inch wheels, Litronic headlights, sliding sunroof and numerous exclusive interior details.

Inside, Porsche used Natural Brown leather together with dark maple wood, aluminium-look instruments and additional leather-covered components to create an interior that was very different from the standard 996. Each car also received its own individually numbered Millennium Edition plaque.

This particular example is number 856 of the 911 cars produced.

TECHNICAL & MECHANICAL CONDITION:

This Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Millennium Edition is powered by the naturally aspirated 3.4-litre flat-six engine producing 300 PS, combined with the desirable 6-speed manual gearbox.

As a Carrera 4, the car is equipped with Porsche’s permanent four-wheel-drive system, providing additional traction while retaining the characteristic naturally aspirated driving experience of the early 996 generation. The factory specification also includes Porsche Stability Management (PSM).

Another important feature of this Millennium Edition is the factory sports suspension. Porsche fitted this special model with a sports chassis lowered by approximately 10 mm, giving the car a slightly more purposeful stance and a more direct driving character than a regular Carrera 4.

The car has currently covered 154,328 kilometres.

EXTERIOR & BODYWORK:

One of the most distinctive features of the Millennium Edition is its special Violet Chromaflair paintwork, colour code 3C4. This colour was exclusive to the Millennium model and changes considerably depending on the light, appearing almost black or deep violet in some conditions while showing green, blue and purple tones in direct light.

Porsche offered the Millennium Edition exclusively in this colour, making it one of the most recognisable factory specifications of the early 996 generation.

The car is fitted with the characteristic 18-inch Turbo-Look alloy wheels in high-gloss finish. These wheels formed an important part of the Millennium Edition appearance and distinguish it from the standard 17-inch wheels normally fitted to the Carrera 4.

Further exterior equipment includes Litronic headlights with headlight washers, an electrically operated sliding sunroof, rear window wiper, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors and a windscreen with a strongly tinted upper section.

The Millennium Edition also received several subtle model-specific exterior details, including a high-gloss “911” badge at the rear and chrome-plated stainless-steel exhaust trims.
The 18-inch wheels, Litronic lighting and electric sunroof are all confirmed in the original factory specification.

INTERIOR:

The interior is one of the defining features of the Millennium Edition. Instead of the more common black interior found in many 996s, Porsche finished these cars in Natural Brown leather combined with dark maple wood trim.

The leather treatment extends well beyond the seats. According to the Millennium specification, this car features leather front and rear seat upholstery, leather trim around the instrument cluster, leather steering-column trim, a leather-trimmed rear centre console and additional leather detailing throughout the dashboard.

Dark maple wood is used on several interior components, including the three-spoke sports steering wheel and door panel inserts. The gear lever and handbrake combine dark wood, aluminum and leather, giving the Millennium Edition a completely different atmosphere from a standard Carrera 4.
The instrument dials are finished in an aluminum-look color, another characteristic detail of the special model.

Comfort equipment is extensive and includes electrically adjustable comfort seats for both driver and passenger, heated front seats, lumbar support for the driver, cruise control, air conditioning, an onboard computer and an electrically operated sunroof.

The car was also factory equipped with Porsche’s information and navigation system, digital sound package and Porsche CD changer.

A particularly important detail is the original Millennium Edition plaque on the centre console. Each of the 911 cars received its own individual production number, and this particular example is numbered 856/911.

DOCUMENTATION:

This Porsche 911 Millennium Edition is produced on 7 December 1999 for model year 2000. And was newly delivered in Germany. The car will be delivered with it’s original books and the service book stamped.
The car currently has Dutch registration and a recorded mileage of 154,328 kilometres. This 996 would benefit a major service as it's last service was in 2021.
