Walu mask with rings - Dogon - Mali

Mask - Wood - Iron - Dogon - Mali.

Rare Dogon mask related to the Walu mask.
Tall rectangular depressions with openings fashioned for visibility.
Two large stylized ears extend the mask. They are pierced with eight holes to house black iron rings.
In the center is a sculpted figure in the round.
Mask height: 65 cm. Dark patina.
Originates from the Yayé region, at the heart of the Bandiagara Escarpment.
