Franco Fontana signs on the title page of Unpublished notes, a unique signed copy in 1st edition with 140 pages and about 54 color photographs full page, English text by Guadagnini and Sgarbi, Damiani, softcover, 2004, excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Exceptionally signed copy by Franco Fontana (born 1933) on the title page, unique and unavailable in a signed edition. 140 pages and nearly 200 color photographs printed, 54 full-page, with English text by Walter Guadagnini and Vittorio Sgarbi. All photographs are very discreetly captioned, located, and dated in the margins. Softcover illustrated. In excellent condition, like new with a transparent plastic cover.
Given the importance of his photographic output and despite the number of books published, Franco Fontana continues to search in his archives for unreleased photographs that he presents here in an original layout alternating full-page photographs with double-page spreads featuring 3 or 4 photographs, whose colors often respond to one another subtly. With modesty, Francon Fontana calls this book "Inediti appunti di viaggio", unpublished travel notes, but these are not mere notes; they are authentic photographic works.
"Master of color photography, Franco Fontana is one of the major figures of Italian photography. Capturing the world through bold geometric compositions, vibrant colors, and a minimalist language, Franco Fontana claims the landscapes he traverses for more than fifty years." (Edition Contrejour)
"Franco Fontana broke the codes of his generation very early, notably by imposing color in photography, at a time when black and white was sacred. In response to the phosphorescent yellow of a gilded sky is the black of a leaden sea. Fontana is playful. His luminous palettes and his appetite for geometric lines are the alphabet of a language he uses to eliminate or sublimate what must be so." (Polka)
Book from my personal collection, in excellent condition (see photo), carefully preserved. Protected shipping with highly effective international tracking guaranteed. For multiple purchases, a grouped shipment is possible with reimbursement of any excess postage paid via Paypal.
