It is a devotional figure from the nineteenth century, worked in gilded bronze in ormolu, presenting the Virgin in a regal and protective pose, crowned and wrapped in a starry halo that emphasizes her celestial nature. The golden surface, warm and vibrant, transforms the sculpture into a object of light: every fold, every relief, every gesture is underscored by that deep shine that the nineteenth-century ormolu knew how to achieve with such mastery.

The Virgin holds the Child with serenity, in a composition that recalls the Images of the Virgin Queen, those that combine maternal tenderness and spiritual authority. It is not a humble or domestic representation: it is a Virgin who presides, who guides, who appears as a protective and majestic figure, following the Italian and French tradition of the XIXth century, where gilding was a symbol of glory and divine presence.

On the base appears the divine Lamb, a symbol of immense theological strength. The lamb represents Christ as redemptive sacrifice, but also as innocence, purity, and spiritual guidance. Placing it at the base of the image means that the entire scene rests on the mystery of redemption: the Virgin, as Mother and Queen, rises above the foundation of her Son’s sacrifice.
