Description from the seller
An elegant and refined fall-front desk (bureau de pente / bureau à cylindre) in the Louis XV style, richly worked with high-quality cabinetmaking techniques. The piece stands out for its splendid parquetry and geometric inlay with diamond motifs and contrasting grain (butterfly-wing), crafted in noble wood species. The top features a shaped fall-front that opens to reveal an internal compartment (scarabattolo) ideal for storing documents and small objects. The desk rests on four elegant cabriole legs, typical of the period, enhanced at the front knees with decorative applications in gilded or patinated bronze with floral motifs. A piece of furniture of great class, perfect for adding a touch of French classicism to a study or an elegant drawing room. General condition good with normal signs of wear and age (please study the photos closely for details of the patina and surface). Structurally solid. Country of origin: France / Italy. The desk is located in Rome, so it must be collected in Rome. To ensure it is well protected, please provide packaging materials, such as double-layer bubble wrap, reinforcing cartons, packing tape. I am available to arrange any shipment (shipping and packaging costs to be borne separately).
