Used in the German WWI revolver cannons

During the conflict, the old naval pieces that equipped the great fighting ships (defense against torpedo boats) in the 1880s–1890s left the arsenals mounted on a chandelier-type mounting (of various models). Rapidly deployed in anti-aircraft defense, the mountings are of a very wide variety and are carried out in the parks or workshops at the front. More standardized models were also built in the arsenals to serve mainly in fortifications as anti-aircraft Flak pieces. 
The 37mm caliber was also very effective against machine-gun nests.

Au cours du conflit, les pièces anciennes de la Marine ayant équipé les grands bâtiments de combat (défense contre les torpilleurs) dans les années 1880-1890 sortent des arsenaux montés sur affût à chandelier (de différents modèles). Rapidement installés en défense contre-avions, les montages sont d'une très grand variété et sont effectués dans les Parcs ou ateliers du front. Des modèles plus standardisés sont aussi construits dans les arsenaux pour servir surtout dans les fortifications comme pièces de Flak antiaériens. 
Le calibre 37mm ètait également tres efficace contre les nids de mitrailleuse.
