PORTUGAL. Lisbon. 2.5 Escudos. 1951.
- Value: 2.5 Escudos.
- Year: 1951.
- Inscriptions: REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA surrounding a sailing caravel and the date at the bottom; on the reverse, the Portuguese national shield over an armillary sphere with the value 2$50.
- Grade: MS65 (NGC).
Circulation coin of the Portuguese Republic issued during the Estado Novo period, belonging to the well-known commemorative series with a maritime theme. The obverse features a caravel with sails unfurled moving over the sea, a direct symbol of Portugal's naval and exploratory tradition, with a dynamic design and very well balanced. The reverse shows the national shield superimposed on the armillary sphere, a historical element deeply linked to Portuguese identity, with excellent relief definition and very clean fields. The specimen stands out for its exceptional state of preservation, with intense original luster, an attractive silver tone, and fully sharp details, qualities that fully justify its high grade MS65 and place it among the best-preserved examples of this issue.
Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to be absolutely clear that I do ship from Spain, which means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside the EU that has a special tax agreement (example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped in your local customs and they might ask you to pay taxes. This is a customs legal procedure and it is completely out of our control. Thanks for your understanding.
