TURKEY. 50 Lira. 1971.
- Value: 50 Lira.
- Year: 1971.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: TÜRKİYE CUMHURİYETİ · ALPARSLAN. Reverse: ELLİ LİRA · 26 AĞUSTOS 1071-1971.
- Grading: MS66 (GBCA).
commemorative 50 Lira coin issued in 1971 to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert (Malazgirt), one of the most transcendent events in Turkish history and in Seljuk expansion in Anatolia. The obverse features the bust of Alp Arslan, sultan of the Seljuk Empire, depicted with helmet and armor in a bold, detailed style that conveys authority and historical character. The reverse shows a stylized map of Anatolia crossed by converging arrows symbolizing the advance of the Seljuk forces, accompanied by the denomination ELLİ LİRA and the commemorative date 26 Ağustos 1071-1971. The specimen retains exceptional quality in line with the MS66 grade, with fully defined reliefs, intense original shine, and clean fields that reflect light evenly. The minting presents an attractive satin-like appearance and extraordinary visual freshness, making it a standout modern Turkish numismatic commemorative piece.
Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to be absolutely clear that I do ship from Spain, which means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside EU that has special tax agreement (example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped in your local customs and they might ask you to pay taxes. This is a customs legal procedure and it is completely out of our control. Thanks for your understanding.
