Description from the seller

Pair of Art Deco Silver Candlesticks – Kraków, Poland – .800 Silver – c. 1921–1931 - Stefan Jenolek

An elegant and refined pair of Polish solid silver candlesticks, crafted in Kraków (Cracow), Poland, during the first half of the 20th century, most likely in the 1920s–1940s.

The candlesticks display a graceful Art Deco / early Modernist design, combining clean architectural lines with restrained hand-engraved decoration. Each stands on a stepped hexagonal base, rising through a faceted tapering stem to a classical candle socket. The subtle engraved motifs and finely beaded borders create a sophisticated balance between geometric simplicity and traditional craftsmanship.

Both candlesticks are struck with the official Polish state hallmark consisting of the woman's head in an oval with the numeral "3" and the letter "K", identifying:

.800 silver standard
Assay Office of Kraków (K)
Hallmark used during the interwar period

Stefan Jelonek was a Kraków silversmith active during the 1930s, whose workshop specialised in elegant Art Deco silverware distinguished by refined geometric forms and restrained engraved decoration. His surviving works are relatively scarce and are mainly encountered through Polish auction houses, where candlesticks, ceremonial silver and Judaica bearing the "SJ" maker's mark are attributed to his workshop.

The pair remains in good antique condition, showing only light surface scratches, gentle wear and a few very small dents consistent with careful use and age. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an integral part of the description.

A refined and elegant pair of authentic Polish Art Deco silver candlesticks, equally suitable for a sophisticated interior, a Paris apartment collection or a collection of Central European silver.
