Zeiss Ikon AG was one of the most important and famous German companies in the world of photography and optics. Although everyone associates the brand with cameras, Zeiss Ikon had a very important division related to technical and architectural lighting.
In the 1920s and 1930s, the company collaborated with prominent designers from the Bauhaus school (such as Adolf Meyer) to produce industrial lamps, spotlights, and wall sconces. These lamps were famous for the use of mercury glass (or mirrored glass), a special material able to reflect and direct light exceptionally well.
