AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Exceptional service of 18 cut crystal glasses from Maison Saint-Louis.
- Caton model.
Comprising three different sizes, i.e. 6 glasses of each size.
The Caton model is a historical Saint-Louis creation dating from 1877, originally designed for Ambassadors.
Saint-Louis still presents Caton today as one of its historical collections, notably characterized by its sober form and flat facets.
The glasses in this service feature the superb Caton decoration:
- Long ribs and vertical facets cut into the crystal, giving each piece beautiful plays of light and great depth.
The base is also particularly crafted, with a short, geometrically faceted stem, extended by a wide circular foot.
Composition of the service
6 large glasses
Height: 14.1 cm
Diameter at rim: 8.8 cm
6 glasses of intermediate size
Height: 12.9 cm
Diameter at rim: 7.9 cm
6 small glasses
Height: 11.1 cm
Diameter at rim: 6.7 cm
Unpacked weight: 3.460 kg
Total: 18 glasses.
The dimensional differences correspond to the different glass sizes comprising the service and form here a particularly harmonious set.
Dating:
The pieces bear no Saint-Louis engraved stamp.
This absence of marking is consistent with an older production: Saint-Louis officially states that until 1936, pieces were not systematically stamped.
Given the model, form, decoration, crystal quality and the absence of a mark, the service is presented as an old Saint-Louis production, end of the 19th century / early 20th century, prior to 1936.
Condition:
As new, never used.
Crystal is clear and bright, the decoration well preserved. The photographs allow appreciating the individual condition of the glasses.
