Candlestick (2) - Wood - 57cm Neo Classical Style

A striking pair of large Italian carved hardwood pricket candlesticks, dating to circa the 1950s. Each example stands an impressive 57 cm high and features a tall, elegantly fluted column above a wonderfully sculptural tripod base formed as three stylised crouching mythical beasts, enriched with carved foliate and gadrooned detailing. The broad candle platforms retain their original metal spikes, making the pair suitable for displaying substantial pillar candles. Presented in good vintage condition, with light surface wear, minor marks and natural variations to the warm, richly patinated finish consistent with age and use. A highly decorative and imposing matching pair, ideal for a console table, mantelpiece or dramatic interior setting.
