Description from the seller
A very rare, antique porcelain teacup and saucer from Paris, dating from the Empire period.
The Empire style and the era of the First French Empire took place between 1800 and 1815, coinciding with the reign of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.
This exclusive centerpiece features beautifully detailed relief work and refined, gilded hand-painting. The classical decor depicts the god Apollo, the lyre, garlands, palmettes, and elegant pearl borders. The graceful handle ends in a beautiful classical volute and rosette motif. Both the cup and the saucer are unmarked.
Given the superb quality, this piece is most likely from one of the renowned Parisian porcelain houses of the time, such as Darte Frères, Dagoty, Nast or Schoelcher.
Condition: Excellent (no chips or cracks, goldwork in splendid condition).
Dimensions: Cup height 10.5 cm (including handle) | Saucer diameter 14 cm.
