The white lace-like ribbons are made with the zanfirico technique (a variant of filigree).
Thin white glass threads (lattimo) are grouped into transparent glass canes, woven into precise mesh or net patterns and then fused into the main body of the bowl.
Between one lace ribbon and another, twisted filaments of amber-red glass are wrapped in gold aventurine (shimmering copper/gold specks suspended inside the glass).
