Side table - Wood

An antique wooden side cabinet with a drawer and a curved upper support for hats. Unusual antique auxiliary piece, made of dark-toned wood, narrow and vertical in shape, resting on four carved and curved feet. The top features a small supporting surface in the shape of a board, bordered by undulating side tabs, beneath which there is a frontal drawer with a small handle. The lower body, with simple lines, presents a framed panel and a vertical storage compartment. Notably, the elevated, strongly curved rear element ends in a volute, giving the piece a very distinctive design and a sculptural silhouette. Given its configuration, it could have served as an entryway support piece, a bedroom piece, or a dressing table, possibly intended for storing small objects and personal accessories. Traditional construction in solid wood, with joints and moldings. A decorative and functional piece, interesting mainly for its uncommon typology and unusual proportions. Shows signs of use and age consistent with the piece. Retains the drawer, compartments and original structure apparent. Overall measurements: 86 × 35 × 30 cm. Period: late 19th century.
