Description from the seller
The Olivetti Lettera 35 is a famous portable manual typewriter produced by Olivetti since 1972. Designed by the renowned designer Mario Bellini (together with A. Macchi Cassia, G. Pasini and S. Pasqui), it was created to offer the public an alternative with a more modern, compact and "professional" design compared with the historic Lettera 32, while inheriting its excellent internal mechanism.
Main features
Reliable mechanics: It derives directly from the cinematic concept of the Lettera 32, known for its fluidity and typing precision.
Design and Structure: The casing is made of robust aluminum die-casting. Compared to earlier models it has more squared and chunky shapes, designed to protect the carriage integrated inside the frame. The original launch color is matte beige/sand.
Keyboard: Italian QZERTY layout consisting of 43 alphanumeric keys that print a total of 86 characters.
Writing features: It includes a selector for changing the ribbon color (black, red or correcting sheet/stencil) and a three-position line-spacing adjustment system plus zero.
Weight and portability: It weighs about 5.4 kg (excluding the heavy plastic hard case that adds another 1.7 kg).
Today the Lettera 35 is a cult object of modern design revival and collecting, highly appreciated both by those who wish to rediscover the pleasure of mechanical writing and as a decor element.
The machine for sale is offered with the original rigid case and with the original instruction booklet.
