Candlestick (2) - Gilt bronze - Pair of candlesticks

Two bronze candelabra, Louis XVI style, known also as "Bouts de Table". The "bouts de table" distinguish themselves from the large centerpieces (surtouts de table) which, for practical and structural reasons, were designed with reduced height to avoid obstructing the view between diners seated opposite each other at the table. They were placed symmetrically at the two ends to distribute light evenly over the entire banquet surface.
Each of them features two curved arms of light, which seem to emerge from stylized acanthus leaves, where the buds are worked with simple elegance. Note that these parts of the candelabrum are removable to facilitate cleaning.
The cylindrical shaft seems to recall the ancient Unyielding Columns.
These objects rest on a circular pedestal, decorated with acanthus foliage.
On a sideboard or on a table, these two perfectly symmetric candelabra will create a sober atmosphere and will embellish your interiors. Their design and the small marks that only time can bestow upon these masterpieces will bring charm, allure and character to a decor that is bold and decidedly refined.
