This hand-knotted Sarough-Mir rug from India showcases a classic, medallion-free Boteh allover design. The almost square inner field is entirely composed of small, regularly arranged Boteh motifs. The delicate repetition of the pattern creates a calm and harmonious overall impression.

The deep wine-red inner field is enlivened by light Boteh motifs in cream and beige. Several finely patterned minor borders as well as a broad cream-colored main border with floral and stylized figurative elements frame the inner field in a contrasting manner. Dark brown and dark blue accents give the border design additional depth.

The traditional patterning and the warm color palette lend the rug a timeless oriental charm. Due to its rare, nearly square format, it is ideally suited for large living and dining areas, square rooms, or as a decorative centerpiece in a spacious arrangement.
